Where It All Begins
If someone had told us a few months ago that we would be getting the keys fir our own creative space in a weeks time, we probably wouldn't have believed them.
we started with a simple idea.
We wanted a place where photographers, artists, and creative people could meet, share ideas, and work on projects together. We envisioned somewhere welcoming, where people could learn from each other, experiment, and build confidence without needing to be established artists first.
At the time, it was just an idea. We didn't have a space, a website, or even a name we truly liked. We just knew something was missing, and we wanted to create it. Everything changed when we discovered EP Spaces and the chance to apply for a unit. When I first walked into the space, it was completely empty. The walls were bare, the rooms were vacant, and there was a lot of work ahead. But instead of seeing what it was, we imagined what it could become. A place where someone could hold their first exhibition, A table covered in prints, and conversations about the next project. That's the space we're trying to build.
One thing we've learned so far is that projects like this don't happen on their own. Even before getting the keys, we had support from EP Spaces, Renfrewshire Council, Engage Renfrewshire, and many others who've offered advice, encouragement, or simply shared in our excitement. We've been amazed by how willing people have been to help, whether that means offering furniture, pointing us towards opportunities, or just sending us a message wishing us luck.
On July 29th, we'll be picking up the keys and officially starting this chapter. There will be plenty to do. Cleaning, painting, building furniture, organising equipment, and gradually turning an empty unit into somewhere that feels creative, welcoming, and lived in. It won't happen overnight, and that's okay. In many ways, we're excited for people to see that process. This blog will be our record of that journey. The highs, the setbacks, and the moments that remind us why we started.
If you're reading this now, thank you for giving us your time and finding us at the very beginning. We can't wait to show you what happens next.
