Our Story

we began with a simple idea: people should have a place to create

What began as conversations between photographers grew in to something a little more. We sought to build a place where artists and photographers could engage with one another and help foster creativity and the arts among the community. And now thanks to a vacancy at Paisley Shopping Centre and EP Spaces, we finally have the opportunity to do so

Rather than rushing in to a fully fitted out premises, we're taking baby steps, with the help of the local community, to fit out this shared studio space with donated chairs, desks, shelves and kit.

Mint Creative is a volunteer led and community focused collective, and as such, we're encouraging artists of all abilities or levels of experience, people looking to get back in to the fold of creativity and general community minded individuals to get down to the shop and lend their aid and/or equipment to the setup of this space.

This is only the beginning and we can't wait to see what the future holds.

OUR GOALS

Although we are just embarking on this journey, Mint Creative hopes to be a place that nurtures creativity, collaboration, and community.

As the studio grows, we hope to provide:

Community exhibitions

Creative meet ups

Zine making workshops and independent publishing

Artist talks and portfolio evenings

Learning opportunities for emerging creatives

Affordable shared studio space

A supportive creative community

Community Support

Mint Creative would not be what it is today without the encouragement and support of those who believed in the vision at the earliest stages.

Glasgow Kelvin College allowed us to develop the confidence, skills and network needed to lead us to establishing Mint Creative. Exploring our passion for photography and engaging in a supportive environment inspired us to create opportunities for others through collaboration and to encourage others to share their skills.

As we move forward on this new exciting journey, we are overwhelmed by the support we have already received from local organisations.

We would like to extend our appreciation to:

EP-Spaces for giving us this amazing opportunity to transform an empty unit into a community creative space

Glasgow Kelvin College for supporting us and inspiring us to follow our dreams and make it happen

and all those who have donated their time, furniture, equipment and knowledge to help us make it happen.

It is through the help of so many people that Mint Creative has become a reality and we would like to express our deepest gratitude to them all

As we approach the 29 th of July and the keys to the new premises are handed over, we look forward to meeting new people and developing new relationships. We are determined to make this project a success and we hope you will join us on this journey.
